Ching's Everyday Easy Chinese

Cooking Channel star Ching-He Huan makes it faster, easier and more affordable to make healthier versions of Spring Rolls, Won Tons, Hot & Sour Soup, Mu Shu Pork, General Tso's Chicken, Chow Mein, Buddha's Delight and more Chinese takeout favorites at home. Her recipes in Ching's Everyday Easy Chinese also use the freshest ingredients and the healthiest cooking methods, so you get maximum flavor without MSG and excessive oil, salt and calories. Even better, Ching shows you how to make your own sauces and offers fresh twists on authentic dishes that might not be available at your local Chinese restaurants, such as Basil Omelette with Spicy Sweet Chili Sauce and Cantonese-style Roast Duck with Mango Salad & Plum Dressing. Nice basic book

There are maybe one or two recipes that caught my eye. Nothing I've tried yet.

Not worth buying
January 28, 2012

Healthy? Half the food in here is deep fried. Just look at the cover, it'a all about promoting cute Ching. All modeled shots, none of her really cooking. A definite self promote book and TV promo. Recipes are rather pedestrian.

I get offended when reviewers mentioned either a. that they couldn't find the ingredients and b. that they want American-Chinese food. If you want American-Chinese recipes, then buy a cookbook by an American chef who is not of Chinese descent. American-Chinese food is not authentic Chinese and being Asian myself (and grew up in Asia), I am always looking for recipes that remind me of home. Ching, by the way, is from the UK. Anyway, with regards to the cookbook, I gave it a 3 star because the recipes, though simple and authentic, are quite bland and uninteresting. There are better Chinese cookbooks, in my opinion, like Easy Chinese Recipes by Bee Yin Low and Classic Chinese Cooking by Danny Chan.

Not For Me
January 03, 2012

I love chinese food and do cook it at home, but looking through this book....don't think I will be using it very much, none of the recipes "popped" out to me, seems quite bland...I usually cook cantonese or szechan...I don't know what this is...I will take a closer look at the book later though and will hopefully find something I want to make
