Great Book
July 05, 2009

I ordered Cupcakes and Cookies and both were awesome. My mother, who loves to bake took both of them home and told me to order another set. Beautiful pictures and very well organized. I think I will order a set for my daughter also, they are such a joy to look at.

Lovely Cupcake Cookbook!
June 21, 2009

I was hesitant to purchase this because I am generally just not a huge Martha fan. I am SO glad that I decided to buy it. The gorgeous photos drew me in. The cupcakes look absolutely amazing! The recipes are straightforward and have clear directions. There is something for every season and occasion you could think of. I also love all the frosting recipes. There are some recipes that make large batches (around 3 dozen or so), but the majority make roughly 1 to 2 dozen. Generally, the larger recipes look like they would be well suited for large celebrations, such as weddings, showers, etc. And of course the minis make a lot, but you'd expect them to because they are so tiny. I'd say that most of those recipes can be cut in half. When you think about it, a standard cake mix makes 2 dozen, so in my opinion, these recipes are pretty much right on target. My daughter and I have been thumbing through the pages deciding on which yummy cupcakes to try first. I know we will enjoy working our way through. Our family LOVES cupcakes. I think this cookbook makes a wonderful addition to my collection. It is sure to be a favorite!

Really good cupcake book!
June 08, 2009

I liked this cupcake book so much I got a second one to send to my oldest niece ... she's getting into baking and living in DC where "Cake Love" is located I thought she would enjoy this. She loves it ... Cupcakes are the perfect "food group" (she says) for single women (and this old married woman agrees with her). Love the variety of cupcakes ... some are simple, others more complex ... there is a recipe of every taste. As with all of Martha's books the pictures are phenomenal and a great help. I would recommend this for the novice or experienced baker's library!

Cupcake Heaven
June 06, 2009

The book has quite a few ideas I've never thought of and some very delicious sounding cupcake recipes. I'm eager to jump right in and give some of the techniques a try. Be forwarned that you may need more than just your average standard 12 cup muffin tin for some of the recipes (some yield 20, 30, etc. cupcakes). As I like a little variety, different tins doesn't bother me at all!

The worst of all the cupcake books out there
June 05, 2009

While only the terminally dimwitted believe Martha writes any of her own recipes any more, this was like one of those no-name compendia. Recipes for cupcakes that yield 28, 32, etc. What's the point of it being cupcakes if it isn't divisible into a cupcake pan? Utterly pedestrian and mostly nothing I would bake. Martha should stop depending on junior editors and write a recipe. This just seemed hastily patched together and I couldn't be more appalled that Martha would release it with her name on it. You could actually see the difference between the recipes pulled from Martha publications and their look vs the ones adapted for this book from who knows where. And the irony is my fave cupcake recipes come from Martha but from the publications so I was dying for this book and planned to gift it but no more. Nobody can produce good material if they release several books a year. Martha, for shame!
