not my favorite paula
June 01, 2009

i must admit i couldn't wait for this book. paula is my all time favorite. i also will admit that i was a bit disappointed when it arrived. a little bit different than most of her books, but this is a "family" cookbook. it isn't exclusively paula. if you are a fan, a "must have" for your collection. the stories and tips are worth the book price. try corrie's carrot-pecan cupcakes with cream cheese frosting...yummy and made with baby food carrots too! enjoy the reading!

Not Impressed

I have collected all of Paula's cookooks and magazines and have liked them all until this one. This one just did not measure up to her other publications. Would not recommend it to anyone.

I can just see Paula in the kitchen
May 29, 2009

I've been watching Paula for years, and I can just see her standing in the kitchen preparing these recipes. I can relate to some recipes more than others, but the genuine joy she shares with her family and guests is very contagious. Perhaps if we all took the time to slow down just a bit and 'smell what's cooking' our families would have a much stronger foundation. One of these days, I hope to see Paula on set or perhaps have a meal in her restaurant. Until then, I am satisfied to try her family recipes and watch as her family continues to grow. FYI: I love watching Food Network, but it seems as if some of the 'stars' are opting to do whatever the producers feel will draw larger audiences - especially the low cut necklines and cleavage. With Paula - she will be Paula. If you don't like it when she licks her fingers or choose not to sample the foods because she leaves her wedding rings where they belong - on her finger - as she prepared the food ... that's just your hang-up. What do you think your great-grandma would say about that?

Par for the course...

.. for Paula. Being a Southern girl, born and raised, I love Southern cookbooks to compare my own cooking with and take ideas from them, too, and this book was a little bit of a twist on Southern itself. My family has really enjoyed this cookbook.

I bought this book for my mother in law for mother's day and she absolutely loved it. She has used it several times already and has really enjoyed reading the stories. Great cook book for the money.
