I have all Paula's cookbooks and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of this one.I am somewhat disappointed in the recipes in it.There are lots for fresh fish and seafood,of which is not available in our area the year round, as it is in Savannah. It is not as good as her other cookbooks, but I am happy to add it to my collection.

I think its time for Paula to hang it up with her cookbooks and just continue her cooking show. This book is not very good, and like a previous reviewer mentioned that many of these recipes you can find in church cookbooks sums it up.

I have tried so hard to support Paula Deen because I love her story and find her to be heart-warming on television. However, if you are anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line, you can find all of her recipes in church and community cookbooks everywhere! This book is no exception. Many of these recipes are standards of most southern cooks without even any changes to make them her own. I found this and the "Lady" cookbooks to be repetitive and boring!

Granted , this is a departure for Paula. However , to include her Family in her latest Book venture tells you
want you've known for years and that is
Paula is Family Oriented !! Paula's past books has led up to this latest book "The Deen Family Cookbook" and for Fans I believe it shows another side of her southern way of life called "Family" . Its a good read for any fan of Paula's !!
