For Paula Deen, good old-fashioned Southern cooking has always been a family affair. “I remember as a young girl going to family reunions, and, oh my gosh, everybody would just try to outdo the other with their best dishes.” Later, when the #1 Food Network® star opened her restaurant, The Lady & Sons, her aunts, uncles, cousins and, of course, sons Jamie and Bobby, gathered to help her every step of the way. Her first full-length cookbook since 2006 is a love letter to family, love and good food—and her entire clan is here to get in on the celebration with 175 of their favorite recipes and the stories behind them, plus snapshots from their photo albums. There’s plenty for everyone to love, from healthy fare to fabulous desserts and sweets from Paula’s cousins who run a popular bakery of their own. Earl “Bubba” Hiers shares his recipe for Bubba’s Beer & Onion Buscuits (“Leave it to my little brother to figure out a way to get beer onto the breakfast table.”). And Jamie and Bobby once again prove that talent runs in the family with their many contributions. Even Paula's hubby, Michael, gets in on the fun with a recipe for Crab Pot Pies that, as Paula says, “melt your heart they’re so delicious.”

There is only one Paula Deen and I am sorry but all of her relatives and their recipes do not count!

I have all Paula's cookbooks and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of this one.I am somewhat disappointed in the recipes in it.There are lots for fresh fish and seafood,of which is not available in our area the year round, as it is in Savannah. It is not as good as her other cookbooks, but I am happy to add it to my collection.

I think its time for Paula to hang it up with her cookbooks and just continue her cooking show. This book is not very good, and like a previous reviewer mentioned that many of these recipes you can find in church cookbooks sums it up.
