Celebrate contemporary Latin taste and all its distinctive flavors with the Food Network’s rising star Ingrid Hoffmann, the woman who defines “muy rico.” On her Miami-based show, Simply Delicioso, Ingrid’s love for creating Latin-inspired dishes shines through as she introduces us to lively menus, clever tips, and time-saving shortcuts—we’re thrilled to say that her first cookbook is every bit as passionate! Starting with a “Delicioso Pantry” section, Ingrid shares a list of the ingredients she uses to lighten up on the fat and enhance the flavor, such as: • Adobo: “The backbone of most Latin cooking…used like salt and pepper, adding a distinct lemony garlic flavor to meats, soups, rice, beans, and vegetable dishes.” • Scotch bonnet: “This is one of the hottest chiles around. Its flavor is fruity and smokey and used widely in Caribbean fare, such as jerk chicken.” And then there are her takes on Latin American standards and spiced-up twists on non-Latin classics—125 recipes from Yummy Avocado Sopita (“Sipping a luscious and silky spoonful is like slipping into something a little more comfortable") to Rum Chica Rum Chicken (“a perennial crowd pleaser”). Simply fabuloso! Color photos.

I loved all the great recipes especially the empanada recipe. I made it and it came out great.
I also love her show.
Take care.

Not horrible by any means, but I thought the recipes that I've tried so far were just 'so-so'. However, I really enjoy her show and will continue to watch them, and try a few more of the recipes; hopefully I'll find a great one still!

Wanted to try something different. This book was not it! I've kept the book to pass on to family member who may do better with it then I did.

Like American cuisine, Latin cuisine has many regional variations. I appreciate that the author has presented an overview of Latin cuisine for novices of that genre (like me). I can understand why cooks who grew up cooking their own regional cuisine would be disappointed, sometimes I'm disappointed when Southern American cookbooks don't deliver my grandma's fried chicken or fruit pies. However, this white girl loves what she's learned from this cookbook and it has really inspired me to try more challenging recipes and techniques.

Lack of pictures and in page 139 the chicken looks undone.
