Whenever she’s tempted to spend a Christmas on a tropical island, Paula Deen reminds herself of the one simple rule she made when she was very young: “Never mess with the holidays. Always be with the people you love, as many of them as you can round up.” In this book you’ll see why she treasures her traditional family holidays—and why she never has a shortage of friends and family at her house at Christmas! Out-of-this-world delicious Southern favorites include Praline French Toast Casserole for the breakfast buffet, Standing Rib Roast with Pecan Cranberry Salad for dinner, and all kinds of mouthwatering recipes for everything from cocktail nibbles to tempting “gifts from the kitchen.” Celebrate—Southern-style! Brunch: Spinach & Bacon Quiche, Almond Danish Swirls Dinner: Soy-Rubbed Tenderloin, Brussels Sprouts with Onions & Bacon, and Creme Fraiche Mashed Potatoes Treats! Apple Butter Pumpkin Pie, Coconut Pound Cake with 7-Minute Frosting, and Mama's Eggnog "Cookie Swap" favorites: Paula's Ultimate Oatmeal Cookies, Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, and Savannah Bow Ties—Paula calls this one "my ultimate cookie recipe." I love this book!! My husband bought it for me as a special purchase on QVC, and I love it!! The stories are heart-warming, and the recipes are delicious. I love her monster cookie recepie, which is FLOURLESS!! Yes, and you NEVER miss it. Also, I make modifications which make it VERY low fat, and the Big Eaters in my family and at work have NO IDEA they are eating healthy!!! Great book for holiday reading and eating!

...but not the worst. This book is very small, not a typical cookbook. So let me put it this way. If you're looking for a cookbook in the strictest sense, you'll be disappointed. BUT, if you're looking for a good story of family holiday time, with a few good recipes mixed in, you'll be quite pleased. This book is best enjoyed curled up in your favorite chair with a cup of good coffee and maybe a note pad on the side.

This book is a nice read, but not the Christmas cookbook I was hoping for. It is too small to use easily in the kitchen, there are no pictures, the print is difficult to read.
The recipies sounded good, but I haven't made anything from this book yet.
Would prefer a bigger format, with easy-to-read, larger print.

This is my first Paula Deen cookbook, and I have tabbed practically every single page! I love it! Her sweet potato dish was a huge hit on Christmas Day, and my husband and I enjoyed a sumptuous egg souffle casserole-type dish Christmas morning. Paula's stories of holidays with her family through the years add a perfect, simple yet touching warmth to this lovely collection of Christmas recipes that truly have a lot of love as a main ingredient. I will continue to use this cookbook throughout the year. I'm only sorry it took me this long to get acquainted with Paula Deen kitchen magic and Southern hospitality!
