I really enjoyed this book very much, so much so I have finished the second one and am already halfway through the third book. This will become a permanent part of my library and my granddaughter is already on the second book.

I really did like the story but It was a little dry reading and I think it looses something in the translation. This book was written in German first which is why I think it may of lost something in the translation but once it got going it was exciting.

I had seen the movie first, so I wanted to read the book. I found it a little dry for my tastes, but it was still a good story, with original ideas. The villians are very effectively bad villians, which is a rare thing, I think. I enjoyed it enough to buy the other two books and am reading the second one now. I think they are good books for early teen through adult.

Yes, it does. It's also the best in the trilogy (Inkspell I felt dragged a bit & Inkdeath was annoyingly gripping though the ending was let down). The story had some pleasantly unexpected twists and developed a few bothersome heroes and at least one very sympathetic villain.
The film would have been a great deal better if it had stayed closer to the book for the ending instead of reaching for the typical "Hollywood" one.
I would recommend this with very little hesitation.

I brought this book on vacation with me. It kept me busy on sunny days by the beach and rainy days by the fire. The movie was pretty faithful but the book has some real meat to it. The story is for kids and adults. Your sure to enjoy it.
